Concession/Food

Layman Farm offers snacks, popcorn, hotdogs, BBQ, drinks and candy. The concession is open on the weekends. WE DO NOT ALLOW PICNIC BASKETS / OUTSIDE FOOD.

Driving Directions

FROM ROANOKE: Starting at the Roanoke Civic Center, head EAST on Orange Avenue/US Rt. 460 toward Bedford. Go approximately 15 miles through Blue Ridge to Montvale. Arriving in Montvale, turn RIGHT on Mountain View Church Road (at the Exxon). Proceed 0.7 miles and Layman Family Farm will be on the RIGHT.

FROM BEDFORD/LYNCHBURG: take Rt. 460 West toward Roanoke. Arriving in Montvale, turn LEFT on Mountain View Church Road. Proceed 0.7 miles and Layman Family Farm will be on the RIGHT.

FROM LEXINGTON/STAUNTON/HARRISONBURG: take I-81 South to Exit 150A. Head SOUTH on Alt. Rt. 220. to US Rt. 460. Head EAST for 9 miles through Blue Ridge to Montvale. Turn RIGHT on Mountain View Church Road and proceed 0.7 miles and Layman Family Farm will be on the RIGHT.

FROM LEWISBURG/WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS/COVINGTON/CLIFTON FORGE: take I-64 East to Rt. 220 South heading toward Fincastle/Roanoke. Continue under I-81. Head SOUTH on Alt. Rt. 220 to US Rt. 460. Head EAST for 9 miles through Blue Ridge to Montvale. Turn RIGHT on Mountain View Church Road and proceed 0.7 miles and Layman Family Farm will be on the RIGHT.

PUMPKINS, PUMPKINS, PUMPKINS!!!! Catch a wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch where you can pick your own from among thousands of pumpkins in our patch. We will begin selling pumpkins in early September. We will have a variety of pumpkins, gourds, cornstalks & fall squash for sale. No-Left Turn Pumpkin Maize Challenge your mind! One entrance, one exit. Courtyard Activities To the delight of parents and children, this season Layman Family Farm will have a courtyard full of kiddie fun. Children can enjoy the corn box, corn snake and pumpkin maze at no extra costs. GIRL SCOUTS and BOY SCOUTS!!!!! Come to the MAiZE with your troop at a special scout rate, $7 weekdays M-Th, $8 weekends F-Su. RESERVATION REQUIRED. The MAiZE patch may be purchased for $1.00 (per patch)while supplies last. CALLING ALL COLLEGE STUDENTS!! Show us your college I.D. and get $1 off a general admission ticket. One I.D. per ticket. Duck Race! See how fast you can pump the water and win the race. Catch a Ride on the COW TRAIN Catch a fun ride on our 10 car Cow Train. Shoot the CORN CANNON! READY, AIM, FIRE! Pick a target and shoot the corn cob from the cannon.

Field Trips

School field trips are available by RESERVATION ONLY on weekdays from 9am-2pm, beginning September 20 through November 12, 2010. ONE TEACHER/CHAPERONE IS REQUIRED PER 10 STUDENTS.

INCLUDES hayride to the pumpkin patch and walking through the corn maze. Children will get to choose a mini pumpkin from the field and enjoy our other courtyard attractions. For your convenience, Layman Family Farm has a picnic area, porta potties and hand wash station.
